Dr. Bishnu Maya Pariyar, founding President & Patron of ADWAN Nepal, is a prolific social entrepreneur and one of the most admired personalities in Nepal’s Dalits, untouchable people who are traditionally marginalized in the society. Dr. Pariyar was born in 1973 to a poor Dalit family of eleven children in a remote village in Gorkha District in Western Nepal. She grew up without access to electricity, sanitation, health care and vehicular roads.

Ms Pampha Pariyar Gurung is the chairperson of ADWAN. She is self-motivated, confident, having an experience of 20+ years in social activism. Since she belongs to Dalit community of hilly region of rural Nepal, she experienced the triple-victimization of poverty, gender and caste. Hence, she participated in awareness programs in village in school age but she got involved actively when she came to Kathmandu for further study. She started campaign, activism against the atrocity of Dalit, especially women and girls when she was studying at Padma Kanya campus, Baag Bazar. Kath,andu.   Her real life experience triggered her to establish an organization to work for women’s economic empowerment and children’s education. She has worked in various capacity in the organization. Pampha Pariuar has over 20 years’ experience in development field, specifically of Dalit and women’s rights. He has participated in national and international conferences held on Dalit rights. She has participated in South Asian regional level conference, held in Srilanka. She is awarded with Bhim Rao Ambedkar award

Pampha Nepali  is a health worker of Nepal government from Dalit community of Gorkha district. She is working in Banepa, Kabhre as a nurse.  She received educational scholarship from the organization ADWAN up to PCL level. . Then she completed nursing course from (Name of Institute)She has been associated with the organization for 6 years. Earlier she worked as treasurer of the organization. At present Pampha Nepali is the present vice chair- person of ADWAN

 

Mrs. Bindu Pariyar Thapa is a feminist leader, campaigner, researcher and youth leader. She has been associated with the organization “Association for Dalit Women’s Advancement of Nepal” since 2002. She started her career as a secretary in the organization.  She has been involved directly in its programs of Gender Equality and Women Empowerment. She grew up in hilly, remote district Gorkha in rural, unprivileged environment. She has received intermediate level education from Padma kanya Campus, Bagbazar.  She got involved in activism related to violence and discriminations against caste and gender in her school age.  Her personal bitter experience led her to be involved in activism. She has participated actively and conducted national level campaigns on women’s rights, specifically disadvantaged women’s rights. She has conducted researches on the status of Dalit women, elected Dalit women representatives. She has received national and South Asian level youth fellowship and youth leadership awards. Presently, she is holding the position of general secretary in the organization. Being the general secretary of the organization, she is representing the organization at national and international programs related to Sustainable Development Goals.

Tirtha Kumari BK is secretary of the organization. She is a social activist and entrepreneur in Chiwan.  She has been working in the development sector for more than 10 years. She worked as social mobilizer in coordination with wards for disadvantaged groups of women. She works for bringing awareness to Dalit community in Chitwan.

Sapana Sunar is the treasurer of ADWAN for two years. She has completed intermediate level of education/ secondary education. She is a professional finance officer in a cooperative.

 

Maya Lamsal is a school teacher in Nepal Ganj. She is board member of the organization. She is from Arjun Dhara, Jhapa. She has been associated with ADWAN for two years.
